Memory Portraits
Would you like to relive treasured memories through a unique piece of art, transforming your home into a gallery of your life’s most special moments?
Commissioning a memory portrait celebrates candid scenes where there’s no posing, just raw emotion and honest interaction. This perspective often reveals a deeper, more personal narrative than a posed image ever could.

Preserving the Quiet Beauty of your Cherished Memories: Custom Hand-drawn Memory Portraits.
A custom, digitally, hand-drawn memory portrait is a unique, handcrafted piece of art that transforms your cherished photos into timeless keepsakes. Memory portraits from a rear/side view offer a unique way to preserve the intimacy; they immortalise a personal moment the subject was completely unaware was being documented.
Using the iPad as my canvas, allows for a fluid and precise drawing experience. A significant advantage of using the iPad is the ease in which revisions can be made. This means I can adjust and refine your memory portrait based on your feedback, ensuring the final piece meets your approval.
What Makes My Portraits Special?
Your chosen photograph, infused with my unique style, takes the final product beyond a mere likeness, to an image full of atmosphere that captures the true spirit and character of the subjects.
Hand-drawn Perfection: Each portrait is meticulously drawn using a digital pencil on an iPad, capturing the subtle details of your cherished memory.
High-Quality Materials: From iPad to print, I use only the very best! By using pigment inks on high-quality, heavy-weight cotton paper this ensures long-lasting prints that stand the test of time.
Personal Connection: Providing good quality, detailed reference images is the single most important step. Please see below for an Image guide to help you capture the very best images.
The Perfect Gift: A Memory Portrait is a deeply thoughtful and unique gift or a treat for yourself that celebrates a relationship, a favourite memory or marks a significant personal journey.

The Drawing Commences: I then carefully, digitally hand draw the linework of your memory. This will then be messaged to you for checking and approval.
The magic happens: I then start the colouring process, time is taken to carefully layer every detail, ensuring the subjects unique body language and emotional connection is faithfully preserved. The final artwork will be messaged back to you for checking where you can suggest minor changes.

Reference Image Guide
Ensure the photograph provided is the back or side view of people and no front of faces. Often the most authentic moments are captured when people are unaware of the camera. A back view preserves this naturalness, free from forced smiles or poses.
Observe and Anticipate: Rather than setting up a ‘pretend’ shot, spend time simply watching your desired subjects during a genuine activity. These activities could be a family outing, carrying your baby out of the hospital for the first time, walking down the isle with your father, standing at the altar with your partner, or even simple every day activities like reading, walking the dog, playing on the floor with the Grandchildren. Above all, look for a moment where they are completely engrossed in the activity and have the camera ready! This means the memory is natural and they will always remember what they were doing and the joy they felt rather than a forced moment.
Maintain Sharp Focus: Even though the shot is unposed, a good reference photo needs to be clear. Ensure that the moment is sharply in focus and that there is adequate lighting to show the texture and clothing folds which will add more depth to your portrait.
